Lemon Bird reviewed in Sweden Rock Magazine:

Great Review in Fireworks (UK Rock Magazine)
Lemon Bird - Rara Avis

If your bag of rock n' roll is in the vein of Led Zeppelin and 70's rock n' roll, then you are going to enjoy Lemon Bird who come from Sweden and are an excellent band.
I loved this album from start to finish, it's fresh yet obvious with the influences, but it doesn't matter as the music is so good.

Lemon Bird are: - Jonte - Vocals, John  - Guitars, Rick - Bass, Andy - Drums.

'Stepping Outside' kicks the party into a gear and right away shows where the band are coming from which is the 70's era of rock n' roll. This is a cool opener, very catchy and superbly performed vintage rock n' roll.

'Looking For My Girl' is a smouldering classic rock number with very cool Robert Plant like vocals from Jonte. I love the classic feel this song gives, you can just get lost in the song's charms, its melodic and blues based classic rock with cranking guitars all the way, even reminiscent of Cry Of Love in places. Awesome song.

'Come On' is even better, you can smooch to this track, it's very sexy again classic rock at its finest with a touch of psychedelic influences, think Lenny Kravitz and Extreme jamming with The Who or Led Zeppelin, excellent track, the main vintage riff just carries this song alongside the hammond keys, totally inspiring smouldering song.

'I Need Your Love' is next, the vibe reminds of what Steelheart tried to capture on their awesome 'Wait' CD, very retro based rock song with a glorious catchy chorus, one of my favourite songs on the CD. Here Jonte sounds awesome and the whole track is just a perfect slice of vintage rock.

'Keep On Moving' is where blues fans are gonna be creaming at the lips thanks to the awesome blues based slide guitar and thumping bass and drums. Again this song is excellent, retro and very catchy, this song has a Black Crowes edge crossed with Led Zeppelin and Cry Of Love, just awesome.

'Grab A Star' is a funky acoustic shuffle, almost country in style, the song shows the band taking a breather from the raw energy rock n' roll and going for a fun Bob Dylan, Yardbirds, Black Oak Arkansas style track, great bass line on this one. Another band doing the style of this track so well at the moment is Hayseed Dixie.

'Hole In My Soul' is again where retro meets vintage rock, the Led Zeppelin influences are again shining through and the band seem locked in the early 70's with the tune.

'Ain't Gonna Grieve' is a track with extra sting, very catchy, with superb playing and vocals from all, live this should smoke. Again very much influenced by Led Zeppelin, in fact this track is reminscent of 'Black Dog'.

'Climbing' is a full on 70's styles hard rocker complete with hammond keyboards, very catchy with gritty vocals from Jonte.

'Don't Hang Up (On Me)' is another favourite song, this kicks ass and is very catchy simple fun hard rock.

'All His Stories' again shows how diverse and interesting Lemon Bird can be, this song reminds me of Candlebox crossed with maybe a little Mott The Hoople, or early Status Quo, a fantastic 70's inspired rock song with a slight modern twist, could do ok on radio this track.

Last track is '(All The Little) Lemon Birds' which is a mellow and catchy end to a gloriously superb album, this tracks makes me think a little of Kingdom Come.

Overall 'Rara Avis' is essential to your collection if you like vintage rock n' roll. The whole band perform well and the songs just hit the spot and are what the doctor ordered. We are going to be hearing more about Lemon Bird in the future, fabulous band.
