Lemon Bird - Mark II
Mark II – the second line-up of Lemon Bird is now a fact! Daniel Axelsson hooked up with the boys and has already after three rehearsals put a huge mark on the rock'n'roll-map of Växjö after the bombastic gig at Palladium during Kulturnatten last night.
Thanks all who showed up! We will return.

Jonatan is taking off
We are sad to announce that the voice of Lemon Bird, Jonatan, has left the band. We wish him all the best with his new job and his soon-to-be-born kid.
Stay tuned for updates regarding replacements!

Whatever happens, you can be sure that people will always take inspiration from the classics. Some may try and emulate the output; some may be impressed by attitude, arrangements, and composition. Seldom do the bands sound exactly like the ones that inspired them, however there are some exceptions.
Lemon Bird is one of few bands I can think of that have successfully captured the spirit and sound of the ol' Zep. This album, from the outset, stands up close to that sound from the late 60's through to the mid 70's, though it's not spot on. I could deride them for unoriginality, or for relying on a classic formula. I'm not going to; this album is too good to be written of like that. And yes, while the Zep-a-thon does swing throughout, there's still generic heavy rock in here and the odd Asia influence creeping in there. Are those ones just pale generic plodders? No, though they're not the amazingly high toned head and shoulders standouts that you would have expected. I'm not going to go into severe detail here; composition, mixing and arrangement are all pretty solid. Standout Tracks would be 'Stepping outside' for the drum patterns and arrangement, followed by 'Keep On Moving' for its southern inspired blues/country blast.
It's a solid release; just don't expect anything that's new and innovative.

Another Cool Review by Rock Zone
If you're looking for great. rockin, good time music that has a classic 70's Rock sound then one band that you'll no doubt want to check out is Lemon Bird... Don't let the name of the band fool you because these guys really know how to Rock and deliver the good on their latest release Rara Avis... Have no idea what the album title means either but I'll tell you these guys wear their influences proudly on their sleeves. The band's sound is the rough n tumble rawness of Grand Funk Railroad mixed with the Blues of both The Black Crowes and the hard edge of Led Zeppelin. The one track that really stands out is "Grab A Star" , it's this song that stands out the most simply because it sounds the most different... On this track the band shows their influence for Country/Bluegrass music and the song is a pretty, good one at that... None of the 12 tracks on this CD though will disappoint any true hard rock fan... Pick up Rara Avis by the Lemon Bird and listen to this CD from start to finish and you'll be reminded of what great, good time music is all about!
